Eminem is the only son of Bruce Mathers, Jr. and Deborah Rae Nelson. He has English, German, Scottish and Swiss ancestry. His mother was fourteen when she met Bruce, eighteen. He was born on October 17, 1972, in St. Joseph, near Kansas City.

His parents were in a band called Daddy Warbucks. Bruce left the family and had two other children: Michael and Sarah; his mother had another son called Nathan Kane Samara. He was raised by his mother in a black neighborhood in Detroit, where he was influenced by hip hop/ rap music from an early age.

His early songs were written at the age of fourteen, he later became the part of the duo Soul Intent. He was discovered on the radio by Detroit producer FBT (Funky Bass Team). In 1996, he released his first album, “Infinite”, with Label Web Entertainment. He then participates in the 1997 Rap Olympics competition in Los Angeles where he won second place.

In 1998, he released his second album titled “The Slim Shady EP”, for the first time under his pseudonym. He formed the group “D-12” with friends like Proof, Bizarre, Kon Artis, Kuniva and Swity and also works with the group “The Outsidaz”. At the end of 1998, DR.DRE got in touch with him and offers him a record deal with Aftermath which he owns. In February 1999, he releases the album that ruled all over the United States “The Slim Shady” with a single “My name is”, and on May 23 of 2000, released “The Marshall Mathers LP” with got the appreciation of the world audience. In February 2000 he won two Grammys thanks to “My name is” and the album The “Slim Shaddy” in the rap category. He also collaborated with Dr. Dre on “Forget about Dre”.

He was arrested in Detroit for a fight at the exit of a nightclub when he sees a man kissing his wife. He is convicted of possessing a firearm.

The single “The real slim shady” reaches the top 10. He then collaborates with Dido for the song Stan and also released a video that was number 1 in UK in December of 2000.

In February 2001 he won 3 Grammys, also in the rap category. In late 2004, he released his fifth studio album Encore. February 2, 2009 featured Relapse’s first single, “Crack a Bottle,” which was a big success, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2010 he won two Grammys, one for “Best rap performance per duet or group “with” Crack a Bottle “and for” Best Rap Album “with Relapse.

Married to Kimberley Anne Scott between 1999 and 2006 and he is a father of Hailie Jade. He met Kimberly Anne (Kim) Scott and they started dating while attending high school; he was 15 years old and she was 13.
