No Doubt: Rock Band that rules the Charts of 90’s
In 1989, guitarist Tom Dumont and drummer Adrian Young joined the band. In this way, the group is completed. In 1991, No Doubt signs a contract with Interscope Records.
While they were finishing their studies, the members of No Doubt took time to go to Los Angeles to record what would be their first album “No Doubt” released in 1992.
In 1993 No Doubt begins recording what would later be album “Tragic Kingdom”. At that time, Eric Stefani leaves the group to enter as an animator in the series of drawings The Simpsons. In parallel, his sister Gwen and Tony abandon their relationship that lasted several years.
But No Doubt continues and their group fans asked for more songs. For that reason they lock themselves up in the recording studios and shortly after they publish “Beacon Street Collection”, an album with 10 new songs and from which they manage to sell 100,000 copies.
In 1995, “Tragic Kingdom” was finally launched, an album in which they mixed different styles, such as ska, new wave, pop, punk and rock. The album turns out to be a bombshell, with songs like “Just a Girl”, “Spiderwebs” or “Do not speak” that quickly rise to the top of the charts. With “Tragic Kingdom”, the No Doubt get nominated for the Grammy awards as best rock album and best new group. In addition, with the video of “Do not speak” they get the award as the best group video of MTV. During this time, Gwen changes her hairstyle and the color of her hair, becoming one of the pop queens, with millions of imitators all over the world.
No Doubt participates in a world tour that takes them to travel, among other places, Europe, Asia and a large part of South America, while “Tragic Kingdom” reaches a sales record of 15 million copies worldwide.
In 1998 they begin to compose the songs of what would be their next album, which they would release in the year 2000, with the title of “Return of Saturn”, an album with 14 new songs that, although it does not reach the sales level of the previous one, therefore, it can be considered of inferior quality.
At the end of 2001 No Doubt released “Rock Steady”, whose first single and promotional video, “Hey Baby”, appears on all radio stations and on MTV.
